All of the equipment in the game changes your appearance but your characters base look is determined by the player when created.
Oh, cool! So only those pieces of equipment modify looks, or does everything do that?
Yes, you can build their looks but the variety is probably not as great as console size entries. Still pretty decent but it's all Akira Toriyama artwork so it may not feel like there is a lot of variety. The real interesting thing is that you can acquire armor sets that give characters the appearance of past DQ heroes so some players actually model their characters after them so it feels like you're recruiting past heroes.
Well, it sure looks very nice. So tell me, can you create all your party members? Are all their looks customizable? Is there a big variety in looks? ... Yeah, I like to play around with that, you see
IX is kind of odd. I'm still working on it myself. My main beef with it so far is that it's one of those games where you can tell it's built for the post-game. I only started playing with the Job Class system cause my WK senses kicked in and felt the game was heading towards the climax and I was still using my starting classes for all of my characters.
Huh. Well okay then, once I'm done with the Zenithian trilogy, we'll see if they have a release date for VII, how far away it is and if I'm patient enough to wait.
XI is different enough from other entries that it probably wouldn't be a big deal to jump into it once you beat the ones you have. DQVIII is basically DQIV re-imagined for a modern age, DQIX is the same thing with DQIII.
Also, I kinda wanna ration it, since even though I have IX, I wanna play them in succession, so I have to wait until VII and VIII come out on the 3DS. It's good that VII to IX are not a trilogy.
We'll see. So DQ IV and V arrived today. I said they were Christmas gifts, but they were late, so dad had to send them over, and I'm still waiting for IX. Tried them out to see if everything is okay, and I'm really excited. They look beautiful! But yeah, sending my DS for repairs tomorrow, so that should be a good pretext to take a short break between the trilogies. I mean, I could play on the 3DS, but for some reason I'd rather play DS games on the DS. Plus, like I said, I'm reducing the chance of burnout. So I'll probably get in more progress with FFIII this weekend, and maybe play a little Devil Survivor too
Somewhere in your 30s should be enough. You'll want your party to learn all of their spells but I think they do so before Lv.40. He's not exactly the hardest DQ boss, hanks to the job class system, but he is the first one who uses Disruption Wave, which is an ability that neutralizes all buffs/debuffs. He's a long fight, not a hard one. I feel the boss from IV was more difficult.
