If this is genuinely something that makes you uncomfortable, then you are perfectly allowed to feel how you feel. What matters is how you approach it. Obviously you shouldn't go insulting them and putting them down for their choices, that's just being a jerk. But I know you wouldn't do that anyway I think it's respectable that you're trying to continue this friendship and you obviously think highly of him despite having some things you disagree on. That's not deplorable at all
