Beat SMT! I feel like my nerd cred just increased exponentially
I've heard the same. The first game has been interesting. Combat is a bit weak and simple but I love he concept of using demons to help with the investigation. I enjoyed what I played of Avatar Turner and I really need to jump back into it soon.
I need to play those Raidou games someday as well, especially since I heard they throw a huge wrench in the SMT timeline. And DDS is love. Also, only Michael left! I'm almost done with the original?
I unfortunately don't have a means to import data from GS1 to GS2 anymore. I'll eventually get around to them but I still feel I need to finish the first Raido Kuzunoha game and restart DDS and actually play it to completion this time. I got sidetracked by new games for both entries.
GS1 is certainly the weakest in the series, but really, it's hard to say. The second game really expands on it a lot and adds some interesting tricks, but aside from a few minor (arguably completely unnecessary) additions, the battle mechanics are identical. But it actually works better if you import your GS1 save file. Make sure you get all the Djinn in that one if you're a completionist, as there's a bonus boss you can only get that way. GS3 was really cool but suffered terribly from Broken Bridge and Sudden Endgame syndrome. I think 2 is the overall most satisfying game in the series.
Our taste are pretty similar until you get to genre. I disappointing a few people by not liking GS1. My GF feels I'll appreciate GS2 and 3 more. The first game didn't exactly leave me wanting to play more and at this point, I'll need to replay GS1 to remember what was even going on.
Well, if it'll help motivate you, I'd like you to play GS as well! I mean, if there's anyone whose taste you can trust it's me, right? ... Right?
Oh Miyazaki... My GF and friend would rather I play Ike and Marth's games first apparently. I've played the demo of Awakening and I enjoy the gameplay but I have enough titles in my backlog at the moment. I'm also sure my GF (and Skyblade) would prefer I give Golden Sun another shot.
I can recommend Awakening, personally, though it did leave me disappointed about the main story. And all those trailers for #FE make me think of this:
I still need to sit down and play through the Fire Emblem series. Yeah, I'm still disappointed with it and each new trailer makes me less excited for it.
