III is my favorite with IV and SJ being close second with the games I've played.
It's probably my favorite in the main series, to be honest, though IV is pretty fantastic as well!
That should be fun. It was a pretty great game and you pretty much inspired me to finish it a few years ago when talked about it.
I think I can call my self a diehard fan once I beat Strange Journey I mean, that's the closest I'll get, as I don't have access to the fan darling Nocturne. I'm actually thinking of starting SJ right after finishing 1.
IV was made easier to make it more noob friendly, especially since Strange Journey got a lot of flack for being unnecessarily difficult without serious grinding and exploitation of the fusion system.
Oh yeah. I have those. Maybe that's why Still, after Strange Journey, I kinda expected more. SMT IV was pretty easy but I thought that was because they were trying to make it newb friendly,
I find the random encounters are a bit worse than the actual boss battles in the SMT series. Though Charm Bullets do kind of break the first game.
Neutral, always I've played quite a bit more since then and I have now defeated the four Devas and am now going into the Basilica. I don't know why, but somehow I expected this game to be much more difficult. All the bosses so far are a joke.

I am now reaching the Tokyo Destinyland! I think I'm getting closer and closer to the end! And I almost finished that super sword with the Japanese name. Just one more elemental to go and it'll be complete!
