Yeah, I personally loved the story and thought it was really mature for a main FF title but, alas, the pacing killed it for most of us. I'm currently at my MA course, studying Polish-English-German translations.
It gets a lot of flak, but I really don't think it was THAT bad. I love the battle system and the art design, but the plot and characters just didn't do it for me.
