Different because neither are 'sexy'? I'm honestly unsure how they are similar beyond that. Another race worth looking into is the Ronso. I'm not a FFX buff by any means, but they clearly have an interesting culture and it there is lore behind them in the games, so that could work. The other FFXI races and the FFXIV races just haven't struck me as interesting so far. What else... uhm... Vieira in Ivalice are a 'sexy' race with a fair bit of background.
Galka sound cool, but it almost seems too similar to the Shumi at a cursory glance. Racial prejudice sounds kickass though, and definitely something I will let Raistlin know about for our racism series. I'll look into these FFXI races though, see if anything jumps out at me straight up. It will be interesting to see how far I can go back though; a lot of the earlier games are very very light on background exposition. Finding trout out about Shumi was hard enough, I spent way too long reading scripts and trout.
Miqo'te is overdone and so far I haven't felt there is much depth to the races in FFXIV when it comes to lore. FFXI was lore-heavy regarding some races, particularly the Galka who suffered racial prejudice in Vana'diel. You should also check out how Galka are said to reproduce, it's an interesting tidbit.
That would be challenging, but it could provide interesting insight to the racial diversity and racism levels of EoFF I'm all for Final Fantasy XI, as it is interesting and under appreciated, but what about looking into the Final Fantasy XIV races to try and encourage interest in that? I would love to help compel people to play by including some sexy Miqo'te pictures, for instance
I'm so glad you said Shumi because given recent VM's I genuinely was thinking you were wanting me to put out a pie graph stating which ethnicities had won how many Ciddies. Ivalice is your next go-to place for races, but personally I'd suggest looking into the FFXI races first because most people won't know as much about them, and the lore is certainly there on the internet for research.
