  1. And I, being from the east coast of the US, have no idea what any of the above should sound like. D:
  2. Some of us do, and a lot more of us do when we're trying but otherwise we sound like a cross between a slightly more respectable chav and a pretty well educated Montanan or Wyomite.
  3. CRIKEY MATE, you mean you don't all sound like that?????
  4. We don't even call them shrimp. It's prawns! But there are a lot of "common sayings" that are either hilariously outdated or fabricated entirely or reserved for a very specific person or persons. Steve Irwin was just fantastic at convincing the world that we all spoke like him, but that's far from true.
  5. I had my doubts you guys actually said that. I've been lied to all these years!
  6. We'll teach you things that we actually say xD
  7. All I know so far is "shrimp on the barbie"
  8. You'll pick up the slang quick enough, don't worry! Then you can confuse your own friends when you get back xD
  9. That's quite true! At least at age 19/20 I can drink in Australia > and your friends can make fun of my Jersey accent and all the Australian slang I don't know!
  10. Imagine this: you'll be a full-fledged adult while you're here, able to do whatever. And then you'll go home and be back to not-quite-old-enough in the eyes of your people and government :/ BUT we'll have a grand old time, exploring and giving you the real cultural experience. You'll have a great time, and the inevitable culture shock/homesickness will be abetted by my troupe of funsters who will make sure you always have something fun to do when you need a break.
