  1. Ha! I wouldn't compete with you now anyway, since I'm like three times as busy now as I was the last time

That's why I posted my Xenoblade review just a couple days ago

It's also why I ultimately didn't write any more emails to you. But I still would really love to talk novel ideas with you!
  2. Break was fine, got some things sorted out though I mostly worked. I'm hoping to stay for awhile but I may not be on all the time. Don't imagine I''l do another thread making war as I contribute that to my quick burnout.
  3. It's so good to see you

How was your break? How long are you staying this time?
  4. Yes I am.
  5. YOU'RE BACK!
  6. Glad you've come to really enjoy the themes of P3. I will admit that P3 is easily my favorite of the Persona games with P2 in close second. I absolutely love how they tackled it's themes and I find it may be why I'm just so damn judgmental about FFXIII because it tried to do the same thing and missed the mark at every opportunity.

Yukari is simply nagging and stand-offish which makes her unlikable to most people expecting spunky. Again, I actually really grew to appreciate Yukari because I felt she was also pretty realistic about the whole situation and I felt her faults made her, like Junpei, a more relatable character. I like Mitsuru and Fuuka but neither stray far from their stock character as Yuakri and Junpei do so I find that while they are enjoyable, they are less relatable as people. With that said Akihiko and Mitsuru were still my favorites of the cast.

I really enjoyed the ending to P3, originally it was pretty ambiguous but I always found it to be uplifting as well. Yeah, seriously I feel it was probably the last really well done JRPG until Xenoblade.
  7. That's it! I can see it! I really wasn't sure if it was due to the writing of his social link, or if it was just me having grown up since I played P3 for the first time, but yes. Junpei is the most human character of the bunch, although I still think the two PS2 persona games have probably one of the best developed casts in gaming, if inly because of all the time you get to spend with the characters. So much so that you really get to know them deeply, as if they were real people.

I'm really glad I played this game twice, and I might do it again in the future. I don't think I was mature enough to appreciate the story the first time around, but the second time it really touched me and really felt that it influenced my fear of death in a very personal way. Back when I played it in high school, my best friend also played it and told me that even the good ending is actually bad and that the game is simply really deptessing. Having played it again as an adult, I see it as a much more cathartic experience, a tale that, despite death being an enormous part of it, is incredibly uplifting. I don't think any game ever has ever tackled the theme of accepting death quite so expertly, and even if there are elements of P4 that make it more enjoyable for me, I think P3 is now closer to my heart.

Bah, I just spoiled you a chunk of my list >< I never got why Yukari is such a scrappy according to the fanbase, by the way. I mean, I get that Ania, my wife, hated her, but she told me that it was because she just would not stay alive during battle to the point of being completely useless

I also recently recommended P3P to my mom, who is slowly getting into games nowadays. She has a lot of issues concerning life and death and whatnot. I hope it can help her.
  8. I always preferred Junpei over Yosuke, largely because he always felt more real to me. His jealous streak is annoying but it was also a very human response and I liked how he really seemed to have a pretty realistic take on the whole story. I think the art book mentioned that Junpei was the most human character in the story and most relatable to the production team and I can really see that.
  9. It's an interesting experience. I mean, after playing both P3P and P4G, I find myself having vastly different opinions about the Magician party member than at first. Like, first time around I didn't really like Junpei due to how easily be for jealous and I loved Yosuke due to how friendly he was. And then in P3P (I played as a girl, that might have done it) I found Junpei to be much more complex, and really genuinely so sweet deep down, that he's now probably my favorite character in that game, while Yosuke now comes off as incredibly immature and very often kind of a sick with his homophobic and sexist remarks.
  10. Sweet, I still need to give P4 another playthrough to be honest.
