Once you get a 2/3DS, be sure to tell me your friend code and I'll give you mine BTW, I was thinking of putting up my two chapters on Timber Maniac's HQ. you think that's a good idea?
Thank you Sleep well!
Thanks a lot, shion Hopefully, tomorrow I'll finally start writing chapter 3. For now, I gotta go to bed since it's pretty late here. Hope everything works out on your side! Good luck lnegotiating that 3DS
I don't think you're bitching at all. I don't think you have too many characters, but then again, I'm a big fan of large casts of charaters. Case and point: my own story that has eight protagonists and a long list of secondary characters and antagonists. Sometimes books or stories with a larger cast can be a bit confusing at first and hard to keep up with, but once you read further they become easy to distinguish between and it all comes together. I think really what you have to do is go with what YOU feel works best. If a writer writes what they don't really like or feel and do it because of suggestions, it comes across often. It becomes harder to get immersed in the story because the writer is pulled out of it themselves. I've had suggestions that just click and I'm like "oh, that's a great idea, that works really well" and that type of feedback is good, but if you hear something and it just doesn't feel right, then you shouldn't go with it. In the end, you can't make everyone happy with everything. I just finished reading my favorite book, The Giver, and there are things I would change in it or suggest other things had the author approached me. It's still a great book.
Thanks. I actually do that trailer and music thing a lot In my dream world, the soundtrack to the movie adaptation of my book is scored by Yuki Kajiura, who did the soundtracks to Xenosaga 2 & 3. I intend this book to get much, much darker later on and I hope it's not too dark for YA. I want to kinda deconstruct the Harry Potter-like formula of a boy discovering a magical world right next to us. Do you think chapter 2 had two many characters? One of my friends said so, but though I introduced a lot, I think I did well in fleshing out two main ones. I'm sorry I'm bitching so much, I know you have problems of your own. I mean, I always look for honest criticism in a lot of places because I want to make this book the best it can be, but then I hear many conflicting opinions and don't really know what to do with it. I think that is kinda the source of my block.
I'm sorry Fynn. I've definitely been there. Not sure if this works for you, but what helps me is reading or listening to music. Sometimes, and this is cheesy, don't laugh at me, I'll play a song and picture it as like a "trailer" or something for my story. It tends to get some ideas flowing sometimes. Also, if I have inspirations for scenes later on in the book, I go ahead and write those and it sometimes sparks something for where I'm having the block.
The worst part is that, I have this whole thing planned out, but I now have this huge block and can't write anything at all. I just sit down and stare at the phrase "chapter 3"... This is so frustrating!
Wonder what he'll say
Hahaha, you don't know sharky :P I sent him that message of the expected pitch btw xD
Haha Tell him you've been peer-pressured by EoFF into getting those games. That way he won't be able to say no
