Thank you, I agree wholeheartedly that SMTIV has some excellent writing, especially as you begin to piece together the whole world which turns out brilliantly. I really enjoyed Walter, Jonathan, and Isabeau and their relationship together with Flynn. It actually does make the alignment lock that much more powerful as everything goes to hell. Strange Journey also did a really good job developing their Chaos and Law heroes, probably better than even SMTIV if I am to be honest, since SJ did a great job giving them strong reasons for their convictions. It was also fun noticing how the world of the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado could bring about two different ideals though surprisingly if you listen to why they hold their views you quickly realize they want the same thing, they just want to go about it in different ways.
Another thing I love in this game so far is the characters. They're very clearly based off the originals, but they are also much more subtle and real, at least so far. I also haven't beaten SMTI yet (got it on my iPhone though - will get to that soon), but from what I've played, I can really see the development of the writing. Walter is still pretty rebellious but has none of the sociopathic tendencies I noticed in the original Chaos hero, while Jonathan is still devoted to the church and kind-hearted, but not as fanatical as the original Law hero. Best of all, so fat, the two are friends. They have differences in ideas, but they can still stay pretty close. Now, I know this is SMT and that friendship will be inevitably destroyed one way or another, but it's refreshing even after Strange Journey, where Zelenin was never really on good terms with Jimenez. Still, in both games, I feel a real connection with the characters and I see a lot of skillful, subtle writing. And Gametrailers dismissed the characters of SMTIV as flat and uninteresting. Then again, they also criticized FFXII's "lack of story", so I should've expected as much
Yeah, she reprimands you for doing the neutral choice as being too wishy-washy.
Arthur was great, I love how SMTIV took the concept of having a Neutral hero from Strange Journey as well. Isabeau and Commander Gore really added an interesting take on the conflict.
Oh, and I once said I don't know what I should do, and Burroughs was like "Well that's pathetic"
SMT has always had awesome AIs. I loved Arthur In Strange Journey too.
Oh yeah, he's wonderful. Burroughs is pretty funny too, especially if you stand around idle.
I adore how hammy Mido's voice actor is
I think Citan Elly and Fei all had good VA just people who didn't know how to dub right since the worst part of many of their dialogue scenes was how poorly the voices synched with the lips.
And then there was that whole "I'm a coward!" Scene. Citan had a pretty decent voice, though, if I remember correctly.
