I has the Diamond and Pearl. I like them. I actually bought my DS entirely for Pokemon Diamond like 6 years ago :P
But you got a DS! That gives you Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, HeartHold/SoulSilver (that's the one you meant) and Black/White and their sequels. While DPPt are the weakest, all of the DS games are awesome with BW having the best story. If you ever get a chance to get ahold of a copy, do not hesitate! Pokemans are worth every penny
I played some Pokemon black on an emulator. That would be the last one I tried. I've also wanted to play the one I can't wuite remember it, but where your Pokemon follows you around? I tried emulating it but it as all buggy. I've heard the new X&Y are really good, but I dun have a 3DS to play them
I've noticed you say you wanted to try the newer Pokemon games! Which were the ones you played last? I play one game of each generation

I liked Kimahri, too! At least he wasn't over the top. Or maybe he's an over-the-top stoic? Also, IX handled the death theme so much better. X, I got the impression, thinks it's so deep when it's not. One of the reasons I like X-2 better - it's stupid, but it knows it's stupid. If you love turn-based systems and ever have access to a 3DS, you simply must play Bravely Default. It is simply amazing!
I was playing the DS version but I am horrible about games and I haven't picked it up in months. I don't know why, but unless I really really make an effort, I'll trail off from a game for like a year and then pick it back up and keep going. Overall I like it! I am said that the twinsies died, because they are my favorite. I agree with some of the things you said about X. Tidus is infuriating and I think you're right about his development. The unicorn bit made me laugh :P. The first time I played I realy liked Auron and Lulu, but Lulu's character has felt prett shallow to me the last few times I played. She has a bit of depth, but it is hard for me to identify with her or care about her much at all anymore. Kimahri is my favorite now, and he doesn't get much time or story.
