Honestly I've lived here for 11 years and I love it. It's a great place, big enough to feel like a city but everything is still close by. You don't even need a car!
Real talk, but Wellington is my dream city. If I could live anywhere in the world it would be Wellington or, at least, that area.
I'm more of a city girl meself (though I doubt Wellington counts by most countries' standards) but that's probably because I was literally raised in a barn
