Aw yeah, you gotta check him out. Especially if you love Old English; he's got an entire video series about interviewing someone from the time in which he speaks as they would. It's super dope listening in as a native English and thinking "trout yeah, I can actually kind of understand a lot of this" xD
That is interesting! I've heard the name, but haven't looked into his work too much. I'll definitely take a look! I love Old English, I'm sad that it's not around anymore. It has so many connections to German and Norse, it's amazing.
Do you know Simon Roper? His area of expertise is more UK specific, but still super interesting. The beer-bear-bare seems similar to the meet-meat merger that happened in Old English. Or Middle English. One of them.
