  1. I hope to surprise you, though I do realize that this story could have been utilized better. I'm still happy that I made my first attempt at this sort of story, but I still see a lot that I could have done differently and made it better.
  2. Nice to hear^^ I'm very curious to see how it resolves itself =P
  3. So Bauer island part 6 should be appearing this weekend, like clockwork Glad to be back to a more steady schedule.
  4. Ever17. It's quite different from Zero Escape (a lot more lighthearted and slow-paced) but it executes its twists just so damn well.
  5. And what game is its big brother?
  6. I can definitely see where you're coming from. I didn't really dig the story of 999 all that much for déjà vu reasons while I really liked the trust/betrayal motif of Virtue's Last Reward. There was something about not just having one unkown entity be your common foe but rather having EVERYONE be wary and distrusting of one another that stuck with me more. While I saw the "his face is actually different" thing coming a mile away for the same reason 999 never managed to surprise me, and the silly foreshadowing they had in there was not convincing at all (SPOILER)OH LOOK AT THAT WE GAVE YOU THE TIMELINE GRAPH REALLY EARLY ON YOU JUST DIDN'T GET IT I still overall preferred it despite its flaws. It also didn't get nearly as tiring as 999 did because of its technical problems which helped a lot.

It's certainly true that 999 is more self-contained than VLR though. I couldn't believe it when VLR ended on a cliffhanger. But I decided that it's just unfinished and I won't judge it for it until I've read the third part :P

And I actually quite enjoyed the little extra "secret ending" scene in VLR. It's not much but it really helped to round out the experience.

(Still prefer the bigger brother of the ZE series :P)
  7. Finished VLR. The gameplay was definitely a step up, as the puzzles made a lot more sense and being able to choose the exact point you want on the timeline was much better than the starting from the beginning every time thing from 999. And puzzles didn't have to be repeated at all, which is great.

But I felt the first one handled its story better. I mean, VLR is still very interesting, but 999 just had a better narrative, IMO. It was all much more effective and cohesive, with that one moment when Junpei remembered the password through a flashback of other timelines being really intense precisely because it happened only once at a very climactic moment. Also, I did not enjoy the cliffhanger ending at all. 999 ended pretty grand, whereas VLR kind of went off with a sizzle, clearly being designed to tie into the third game in the series.

In the end, though, I enjoyed both a lot and while I am a bit burnt out by this one now (as I was with 999), I will most certainly get the third game when it comes out.
  8. Thanks for understanding and sticking with my stories regardless It means a lot!
  9. I assumed as much. Curious to see how it turns out
  10. The reason I have not updated Bauer Island yet is that I started a full-time job and the first few weeks are just crazy >< Everything is already completely finished in my head at this point, though, so when I'll be publishing chapter 5, everything else should be written as well, so nothing will stop me from posting week after week,.

After that I'll probably post "A dream is a wish" on the blog, so I have more time to brainstorm story ideas And that story really did take me a long time to pull off, so I really wanna show it off to a wider audience.
