Everyone starts out with zero rep. I'm not sure how much the average member has, but the little green box on your profile only seems to go up to three. The max amount is unknown to me. Underneath everyone's posts there's a scale looking thing. Click it to give a person rep for that post. You can leave them a comment with it too. It was originally made to be used as a means to identify a helpful member but all anybody uses it for is how funny the post was (which makes sense why you have so much). Go to your user control panel and on the main page will be a list of all the rep you've received, who gave it to you, what post, and the comment they made. You can rep me if you like. If you need some inspiration for some repping I suggest this thread There's a limit to how much rep you can give in a day. I'm a rep machine, I get cut off within five minutes of being here everyday.
