I've been on vacation these last few days, and otherwise I've just been really busy. I haven't had much time for the forum with all this real life crap going on. But I've been fairly well. How about you?
You're alive! I thought we loss you in the great comet purge. How goes it?
Now you know how I feel in most Final Fantasy VIII discussions.
I enjoyed both - Maleficent just generally and Frozen from more of an analytical standpoint. A lot of people disagree with my opinions on the two films though, so I'm going to try and get my ideas down and referenced. Hopefully I'll get this essay published somewhere.
Sounds good. I'm seeing it on Tuesday. Maybe some day I'll sit down and watch Frozen too.
I enjoyed it. It wasn't fantastic as a stand alone movie, but in comparison to other recent films that tried to accomplish similar things, I felt it did so more successfully. The set is more of a reminder to myself that I need to work on this comparative essay I'm writing about it and Frozen.
I see you have a Maleficent set. Can I assume that this mean Maleficent was a good movie and the hate on it is unfounded or are you about to burst my bubble? Also, your hair is like Fruit Loops.
I understand completely where he's coming from. That's why I feel guilty about writing it, but I'll press on. I'm already in the process of planning my own novel because of the fic writing I've been doing and reading Game of Thrones has improved my writing a bit so I feel it's a disservice to myself and those enjoying my story to leave it hanging.
Again, I can understand. If you work incredibly hard building a world and creating character, you feel you should have ultimate control over them and what they do. Particularly when people are yet to see how a series ends, it's hard to ensure people are writing about your characters how you envisage them. Still, so long as nobody is claiming to own his intellectual property, there's not much he can do.
Glad to know I'm not the only person who did it like that. His disapproval seems to fall in line with fics where the authors make characters act out of character. He also just doesn't like the idea of other writers writing about them. He think they should be inventing their own worlds and characters instead of playing in his "sandbox" as he puts it. It makes me wonder if he realizes sandboxes were meant to be enjoyed by more than one kid.
