I know. But you can always bank them and use them again in other playthroughs and such. You're just giving them a break after they fainted. Or, if you want, don't use the "permadeath" part. But try the rest of it. Because it really does let you get s new insight into Pokemon that you might normally overlook or ignore.
I know you could do that... But it's still kinda harsh, not using your Pokemon anymore like that. I get way too attached
Oh, I know. I was salty for a couple hours after my first one fainted. To a battle that had never given me any trouble before. I actually have a completely different head canon for how Nuzlockes work, though. Pokemon don't die. They just lose faith in you as a trainer, and refuse to fight for you anymore. That's why they continue to do things like Cut and Surf for you. They still like you, they just don't trust your skill in battle. You failed them, and they watch on in disappointment. Some trainers release them into the wild after this, unable to stand the distrustful looks. But I still care for my Pokemon, and I keep them with me, even if they won't fight. Pokemon can survive having reality torn asunder with no permanent effects. You really think an Ember is going to kill them?
Oh, the puns I can actually never bring myself to do a Nuzlocke challenge. I just feel the Pokemon too much, you know?
Makes sense. Also, my current Pokemon Nuzlocke is something I'm calling a Neverlocke. You have to give up your starter as soon as you catch another Pokemon, and on each Route, you're only allowed to catch the encounter there that you have used the LEAST in the past. In XY, this is great because of how varied the encounters are on the different Routes. So I just picked up a Doduo. And I nicknamed it Cerbirdus in expectation of its evolution.
Nah. Don't wanna hatch the eggs before. I don't wanna get spoiled on what's in them, nor do I want to be tempted to keep the proper ones
Also, if you want, you can pre-hatch them all and see if you get any shiny hatches. They'd be easy enough to remake.
I dislike how some of them look as well. Others look way better than the original (shiny Umbreon, yay!). But you'll find some. My first shinies caught in Gen II besides Red Gyarados were caught in the Bug-Catching Contest. I think I caught two there? I used to think it had a higher chance of producing shinies because of that.
It's not that I really want shinies. I even kinda dislike how some of then look, compared to the originals. I just can't believe my luck in this regard, since everyone and their mother appears to have encountered a shiny at least once
All Pokémon that you encounter in the Friend Safari also have a flat 1/512 chance to be shiny. So, if you're really looking for a shiny, it's a good place to start.
