Yeah, but that's arguably what makes Cave shmups what they are. A lot of shmup enthusiasts (at the Shmups forum at least) don't like Touhou because 1) they're too 'manly' to play games with magical girls and 2) they find Touhou shmups to be far too easy. Normally I'd disagree, but these are guys who can 1CC the second loop and True Last Boss of DoDonPachi. Now I'll also agree with you because Touhou is smurfing amazing and I love every aspect of it, and I'd probably play them over any other shmup.
You've been stuck on Touhou for too long then. Touhou shmups are great, but Cave shmups are just as good. I'm still importing it as soon as I can.
*steals Alice's precious thing* Also, Mushihime-sama was a disappointment - looks nice on youtube, but sucks when playing, touhou is presented much better and more fun and interesting

Well, I've never seen a picture of neko-Reimu, so I'm assuming the song is about her being an actual cat girl-- I mean, if she wasn't wouldn't it say 'Nekomimi-miko Reimu~', etc?

And neko-miko aside, the other two aren't real catgirls.
