Conversation Between Wolf Kanno and Fynn

  1. TWEWY is my favorite part of 3D to be honest.

I think my other issue with this game is how they retcon Master Xehanort into this chessmaster Dr Doom wannabe whose past failure have all been retcon into always going according to plan. Like the revelation that the best way to screw up his plans in past games was to sometime have the heroes fail is a bit maddening and just makes almost every game feel a bit like a Shaggy Dog story.
  2. Yeah, the worlds in III are all seamless open worlds aren’t they

I also really liked the return of TWTNW in 3D. Really liked the new music
  3. And now the bulltrout begins. I reached the World that Never Was, which I'm happy we got to return to this one because it has such a cool aesthetic to it. It's funny how I went from the plot lite Fantasia to now being in the plot heavy final chapter.

I manged to get the Dive Keyblade but I'm sure that will be the best I can do this playthrough since Ultima is locked in post game and the only other keyblade I can remember is locked behind the awful Secret Portal questline. I also opted to finally break out of my rule of only switching out Dream Eaters after I master them so my boys can play with dinosaurs. Who conveniently have a lot of good skills locked behind them. I think the element that has irritated me the most this playthrough has been finding all the treasure chests. Not that it isn't a hassle in every entry but considering Flowmotion and the scale of the stages the devs hide them is devious places. I'm already dreading KHIII in this regard.
  4. Yeah, the other issue is that the key blade hits are registered as random percussion instruments so it makes everything feel off.
  5. The Fantasia world really suffers for the music constantly restarting after every reality shift

And yeah, I’m not a fan of the world selection for III either. While I do like most of those movies, I heard Disney had real tight control over what could happen in them. the Frozen world was the biggest victim of this, apparently
  6. What do you mean not Donald and Goofy? I imagine this world takes place sometime after the events of Timeless River but not necessarily after Mickey finishes his apprenticeship with Yen Sid. Course I may be partial to the idea that Mickey married into royalty and Minnie is the true heir and leader of Disney Castle.

I think Fantasia was still the biggest surprise for me since I never even considered that film as a world choice. One of the sad things for me going into KHIII is that I simply don't have the same nostalgic love for the Disney worlds like I did for the first two numbered entries. I definitely love Renaissance Disney more than Pixar and modern 3D Disney. The fact the only retunring Disney worlds are Hercules and Winnie the Pooh was a bit disappointing but considering how off the 3D models look for the 2D films, perhaps this was a blessing in disguise.

I just reached Fantasia world, so I'm only one world from the end and then I can finally dive in guilt free into Aqua's side game.
  7. Yeah Maleficent really got done dirty. She was amazing in KHI.

And yeah, the Three Musketeers was honestly a surprise, but definitely a welcome one, as that was in itself a surprisingly enjoyable movie. The logistics of it all are incredibly confusing for KH though. Like we already have Disney Castle, so where does this play into all that? The Mickey here is our Mickey, but not Donald and Goody? What the hell
  8. You know which character in KH I feel bad for lately? Maleficent, poor girl hasn't been a real threat since the first game. Even in BbS, she didn't feel like that great of a challenge to the heroes. Now every time she shows up, I just shake my head and wonder why she bothers? Like does she still think she's the biggest threat in the series? I mean it's a little sad when you think about it.

In 3D news, I just reached the Three Musketeer World, which I still find is the weirdest choice of the bunch. Not that it's a bad choice or world, but it is a bit odd being one of the only direct-to-video films in the franchise.
  9. In 3D news, I have finished Hunchback world. I like the Gargoyle Dream Eater boss. The section where he chases after Riku on the castle walls reminds me of Demon's Souls, just with no friendly fire, and way less death.

It has been a bit rough playing this after DMC4 though. I keep trying to jump kick off walls with a double tap of the jump button unlike the complicated nonsense with flowmotion. Don't get me wrong, I like flowmotion but it's hilarious how much it trivializes the movement skills in this game. I got an air dash move and was curious as to why I would need it. I really dislike the button prompt for reality shifts. Sadly this game pulls a DMC1/MGS:Peace Walker and instead of getting you the option to map the controls, you just have to pick through some pre-selected ones that are usually worse than the default. The issue is that RS are activated by pressing triangle and circle button simultaneously and it's not always as intuitive as I would like.
  10. True but it just feels awkward. I'm sure if I spent more time with it I would get used to it, but the demo didn't impress me too much. Not helped by the fact I don't have the nostalgia for KH music like most fans do.
