Yup, gotta agree with everything there. Although I only partially agree with the northern lights thing. Bethesda, being the lazy pricks they are, completely half-arsed my two most anticipated graphical things in Skyrim: rivers and aurora borealis. Stupid pricks. I was lead to assume that a simple thing like "the water flows realistically" (something a smurfing two man dev team can do) would imply streams and rivers following their own paths. But no, the water just goes in one direction. And then you have the northern lights. Like you, I had an amazing moment as I reached the peak of a hill and through the gaps in the trees saw flashes of red from it. However, I was expecting more life from them. They're just paper cut-outs stuck on a generic sky. smurfing Bethesda. Such good games from such useless, lazy smurfs.
actually saying that one of the first things I did when I played skyrim and went on my first explore was mission to Solitude, and when i came through the crappy marshes and just looked up for the first time and saw it from below on a misty morning, that was probably the coolest thing i've seen in a game. so idk. RDR still wins tho, the whole thing is more polished than Skyrim, understandably so.
I still think RDR overall is a prettier game than Skyrim. Skyrim is nice to look at and all but like you said the sunrises and sunsets in RDR, and the general awesomeness of the desert beats out snow and trees for me. Though, the night sky in Skyrim is the best thing from both games I think, especially when you are somewhere with the northern lights like Windhelm.
It is a perfect excuse. I will play online with you when you get Crysis. Aye, Skyrim free roam would be damn near perfect. I must spend at least as much time in Skyrim sitting about watching the sky as I did in Red Dead. RDR has superior sunrises and sunsets, though.
