Have you tried playing on easy? It's not that hard then. Bravely Second is a bit easier because job levels don't influence stats so much, so you are encourage to switch jobs much more often as there is very little handicap involved.
i played the first one but i only got to the fire crystal, it was pretty good though. just hard
