  1. ahaha that's fine dude, life gets busy! We're out Thursday morning though so it seems we didn't quite make it. No sweat, there will be other chances I am very sure
  2. hey dude sorry, been a hella busy week for me so far! Hope you've been having a good time anyway.

so I work tomorrow and wednesday as well and then after that I'm free for two days. anything is fine with me also! lemme know if there's anything in particular you wanna do!
  3. We're back in Yotsuya sanchome if that helps. Gimme a holler if you've got a day/night free. Happy to do whatever!
  4. sweet bro thank you kindly
  5. https://www.airbnb.com

sorry dued totally forgot to respond to this but yeah that's the place. some proper hax trout on there
  6. hey dude do you know what website your mam had to find accommodation in ye olde Tokyo? Just thought I'd start having a poke around in my spare time
  7. Sounds like a plan to me. Would love to get some direction in where to stay. 1265 for accommodation doesn't sound so bad, especially in Tokyo and if it's a half decent place. I'll certainly keep looking but having a fall back plan is always ace.

Most of our touristy stuff should be obvious enough but like to really engage in modern Japan I think we need to come along with you and start finding these trees in Hyogo
  8. that's all good, my mother is gonna be here something like the 6th to 16th of november. i don't really mind overlapping, just that she's gonna wanna do family trout and when you're here i'm fully intending for there to be at least one day where we end up waking up at 6 in the morning semi-naked hanging out of a tree in Hyogo or some trout so probably best to do that once she's gone back home.

also my mom's been going ham on like searching for places to stay, i'll try and get the website off her at some point but some of the apartments sound pretty dope and for tokyo prices at least fairly decent. the one she's looking at now for example is not so far from Ikebukuro, which is a sick place, prolly my favourite place to hang out in tokyo. the apartment has two beds, furnished etc kitchen all that lark for what would be 845 AUD a week (i think. not sure, might be longer?) either way if it's a week if you guys got something like that for 3 weeks it would work out at 1265 AUD each for the entire stay if you were planning to stay in one place and travel out. ofc there are probably cheaper places etc, that's just one example.

touristy stuff I can't help with much because i'm a total anti-tourist, but I know a few hilarious/cool places I would take you at least. will prolly be able to find more between now and then as well!
  9. oh dude congrats! Glad you got that extension on your visa. At the moment my plans are looking like I'll be over there between November 10 and leaving somewhere between December 1-7 depending on planes flights and how far the money will go. I'm happy to fit around your mam; if it were just me I would be like "oh I'm super friendly and parents love me" but I'll be travelling with a buddy of mine and I don't wanna make things awkward for her or you or him

Obviously whenever is best for you to take time off as well; we wanna see some stuff in Tokyo, do the ordinary touristy thing, but we also wanna like head out to Shirakawa, Gifu and probably a bunch of other places too. I need to figure out a better list of that stuff but I think having Tokyo as our hub is probably easiest albeit not exactly cheap.

Basically my buddy and I have been big Japan nuts forever, playing video games and watching movies and anime and just generally lapping up the modern and traditional culture so we're just going over there to see as much as we can see and enjoy every aspect of it. I'm probably gonna go and start making lists of like cool things and researching online for temples and whatever but I just wanted to check from someone who's there if there are any cool things we might not know of. I dunno, I'm struggling to get motivated on the whole planning thing when it's so far out.

Budget wise I'm not 100% sure but keeping prices low is my hope. After flights I've got about $4k AUD lying around but that could go up or down depending on how smurfed over by the government and life I get between now and then. Should be a decent enough benchmark though, but I'm hoping for more just because accommodation for three weeks is not gonna be cheap.

Anyway yeah I'm just flailing and spouting nonsense so w/e but I'm hella keen to see you and participate in one of your legendary tales.
  10. Yo dude, sorry for the late reply, I was waiting on confirmation on my new visa, which I got this morning! yay. But yeah i'm in Tokyo, and probably will be for the forseeable future. What time are you planning on coming in november? my mother is also planning to come in november so I need to figure out dates that I can do trout and when to take time off work. As for accomodation, let me know what your plans are re: where you want to go and for how long, and i'll look into it. oh a budget would be useful as well!
