Yeah there was a post on publishing word counts the other day there on scrib but i've heard it before too.

Nah. It's just hard to sell to publishers if you're over 100k for your first novel. They don't want to take a chance on it. Some may still! but a lot of times they reject it on debut novels for word count
Okay. Will something bad happen if I go beyond that
Shoot for 80-90k cause that's usually what first time debut novels are released at.
lol I sometimes get uppity toward other writers who ARE like that haha
Also, i kinda wanna have a novel progress bar but I have no clue how many words my novel should have

Lol right? I guess it comes with creative outlets. It takes a lot to actually get something out so compared to the average person they think that that already makes them better than them. So they're already a step above others kinda thing and some let it run to their heads.
