Just do it once. I think the bosses A.I. is set up to use Distortion Wave if you use so many Buffs in one setting.
I'm still on the fence on whether I should kabuff once or twice. On the one hand, he'll keep using distortion wave and I'll burn through Kiryl's MP faster, but then again, the higher the def, the safer...
There's not much strategy to it besides conserve resources until you win. Your strategy sounds pretty good actually. Good luck.
I heard the DQ IX's final boss is one of the toughest, actually. So yeah, I'll be sitting down to that penultimate phase in about half an hour. I just hope I don't burn too much MP before he grows the head. Any tips on that final for? For now, my strategy is to sap him, kabuff myself, and then wail on him with physical attacks and kafrizzle and heal when necessary until he dies
Psaro is the best villain the series has as most of the villains in the series are just evil. VII's villain is a bit memorable but it comes from him being pretty hammy and flamboyant. Yeah, Psaro is the best, especially since the DS remakes flesh his story out a bit as he was like Xande where you never see him until the very end. I don't think he had a character design that wasn't his boss form until the remakes. Of all the bosses in the series, Psaro gave me the most trouble because it's a long and grueling battle and your strategy is different based on who you bring with you. I think the boss from DQVIII was the easiest for me but I have a sad feeling IX's will take that crown as I'm sure I'm overleveled since I need to go through Grottos (optional dungeons) to get a challenging boss fight anymore.
