Actually I have heard of them(a friend of mine is really into metal) but I never listened to them. I'm not a big metal fan lol.
Incidentally, are you familiar with the awesome avant-garde metal band that shares your username?
It's hard for me to pick favorites because they're all great, but nothing gives me chills quite like "Monkey and Bear". But there are parts in both "Sawdust and Diamonds" and "Only Skin" that are...almost riff-like parts, and those are my favorite parts on the album.
Ys was also the album that introduced me to Joanna Newsom. The first song I heard was "Sawdust and Diamonds..." but my favorite track from that album is "Only Skin." Even though it is a lengthy track, it plays like an epic journey.
It's so weird because I don't like anything else in that genre really. But my one friend turned me on to "Ys" and it became one of my favorite albums ever.
It's nice to see that someone else appreciates the awesomeness which is Joanna Newsom.
