  1. Thats pretty interesting. Why did Dr Unne hate them?
  2. Pimp Unne is a classy, smartly-dressed fellow who doesn't take guff from anyone. He has a thriving business in Melmond, pimpin' out a lot of hot humans, elves, and the occasional fiend. Shlup is his bottom bitch.

More seriously, Pimp Unne was made for me by Genius Lynx years ago after making a spate of other Unne avatars (which are available in EoFF's avatar list). Unne avatars started as a fun gimmick during the elections with the Unne Avatar Party, which the actual member Dr Unne generally hated.
  3. Could you tell me a little bit about your avatar?
  4. Thanks, I appreciate that . I actually have a list of article ideas, and if you guys need anything in particular, just let me know!
  5. No problem! I'm always happy to help. You are free to PM me to discuss article ideas or send drafts for feedback anytime.

I've liked your enthusiasm so far, and I hope you keep it up. We always need more features and discussion-oriented articles.
  6. Hallo! You are an editor, right? I have been writing some fluff/feature articles for the site to help out and I don't want to keep bothering the same editors over and ovr. Do you think you could help me edit some future articles?
  7. I accidentally clicked on my profile and realized I had forgotten to respond to this. Sorry! But thanks for the compliments. FYI, I just posted the latest update in my sexism series.

Suikoden is... complicated. Given the massive number of characters, it unsurprisingly has a lot of good and bad. It has some very strong, powerful female characters such as Kika, Valeria, Zerase, Milia, Flare, Sierra, etc. These characters are independent, powerful on their own (whether physically or magically), avoid a lot of common stereotypes, and are not overly male-dependent. It also has plenty of stereotyped characters: just from S2, there's Rina (the temptress), Nina (the young brat with a crush that takes over her existence), and even Namami (even though she styles herself as the big sister, she fits pretty easily into the bratty Yuffie/Selphie/Rikku mold). And then there's Jeanne, possibly the most blatant example of fan service in JRPG history; basically a parody of women's clothing in these games, Jeanne's attire gets skimpier in each successive game, to the point in SV where she seriously should not be able to move without flashing both her breasts and vagina.

Suikoden as a series has one major point in its favor: variety (which FFs 1-10 notably did not have). And the strong female characters are pretty damn strong. And Suikoden is known for its light-hearted moments, which can explain some of its more blatant caricatures. But it still does have a lot of stereotyped characters, and outside of Chris, the most insignificant and least liked of S3's trio, the series notably is lacking a female lead or a lot of very central female characters. Most of the leaders and villains tend to be male, though to be fair the series has a good mix of female strategists (Apple and Elenor).
  8. Hey, I was reading your sexism in Final Fantasy articles/threads, and since I recently started replaying Suikoden I and I know you've played the games, I was curious to see what your take would be on some of those characters. While there are certainly some that fit into gender stereotypes, I think the characters have a very broad range of personalities and strengths/weaknesses.

    I think you're a very good writer .
