Btw, Sky, sorry if I've asked you this but have you played Persona 2? I know you're familiar with the lore, but I'm not sure if you ever told me that you played it.
I'd scan the game script for you if I had the time, but I don't. But the last time I started replaying it, it was pretty much stated outright that this world has been created based on Mewt's fantasy. And the fact that we see people turn into the Ivalice denizens is really enough to suggest that's what happened, even if we don't see them turn back at the end. Since we saw them turn at the start, the bit at the end would be redundant.
Who stated that, though?
Because Ivalice was just a big lotus eater machine. It really wasn't real, this is outright stated right from the getgo. It's not real and it never will be real.
But then wouldn't we see them transition back at the end? But they don't. They just vanish. Ivalice doesn't become St. Ivalice again. It just disappears, and they all wake up back in St. Ivalice. We never see St. Ivalice reconstructed.
Except it's not a real world and everyone in it was just people from the real world transformed and wiped of memories because some kids couldn't get a grip
