  1. DQVII works the same except there is no Vocation points, in fact, I have a feeling that was added to the DS port because I'm pretty sure the original didn't do that either. Traditionally your Job Rank went up based on how many battles you completed with enemies in the same level range as you, so you couldn't just master a job by going back to a starting area. This also made it harder to try and master all classes for a character because it would take longer to raise the job as your character grew stronger.

I think the original also had a monster party collecting element like DQV if I remember reading that correctly.
  2. I also find it interesting that equipment is not restricted by vocation but by character instead. So even though my main character is a cleric, he can still use swords and axes. Also, I think everyone now always gets exp and vocation points even if they're in the wago. I think they only don't receive anything when they're at Patty's
  3. Yeah, DQVII's has more jobs and I know it has some deeper mechanics though I think the remake removed some of those to create better flow in the gameplay.
  4. Well, there's nine base cvocationsand 7 advanced vocations including the hero. The main character only needs to master one of four advanced vocations (sage, gladiator, luminary, ranger) to unlock the hero vocations, everyone else needs to master all four.
  5. Yeah, the games that have job systems after DQIII tend to introduce it later than one would expect. VII and IX do the same thing.

How are the jobs, I beleive they work the same as they did in VII.
  6. So I FINALLY got access to vocations
  7. I think the rel issue is just finding someone who has played VI tbh.
  8. Also, Pumpkin just got her first BoF gut punch. I told her to get used to it because that's the whole series. I still remember (SPOILER)the Elina twist and that whole thing with that farm girl being used to fuel the hex in IV. II was filled with these as well
  9. I know you weren't. I'm just wary of my opinion here because it looks like I'm really in the minority as everyone else seems to slam the story. Laddy's the only person I've ever seen give the game any credit.
  10. Oh I wasn't disregarding your opinion, I only know the basics of the game. I may very well enjoy it whenever I get around to picking it up and playing it.
