Conversation Between Wolf Kanno and Fynn

  1. I guess I'll just have to play and see how I feel.
  2. Well there’s that, but it’s mostly that you visit various towns, spend some time there and handle some mini stories there. They’re mostly disconnected from each other. It does feel like a longer tv anime in that regard.
  3. Ugh, slice of life... Have I talked about how that's one of my least favorite anime genres? Large part of why P4 was a bit blah for me whereas I liked P5 better for making it that side of the game more subservient to an actual focus to the plot.
  4. To be fair, though the expected anime tropes are present, for the most part the characters and world building get the job done to the point that you don’t feel like you’re playing generic weebtrout mk. 87, though apparently the Cold Steel protagonist is much more of a typical bland anime boy than the Sky protagonist, who is a legitimate joy. I feel the bigger problem is that so far not a lot has really happened and there’s a lot of slice of lifey stuff, but I’m hoping this build up will make whatever comes later more rewarding.
  5. Yeah my worry was the games would be a little slow and probably a little heavy on anime tropes from what I've seen. I'm kind of hoping Trails in the Sky might be the cringy one, but the series would properly get interesting by later installments.
  6. So Trails in the Sky is definitely slow. I personally don’t see what the fuss is about yet, but the main protagonist is very endearing and it’s nice how fleshed out the world is. Though apparently it isn’t until Sky Second Chapter that things really start getting interesting. I’ll probably be able to say more on that once I finish the first game.
  7. I need to get around to playing the Trails series just to learn what all the fuss is about. I have the demo of III I believe on my Steam, but demos tend to be low priority for me seeing how I also have the XIV one as well.

I did get myself a DS emulator and found the SaGa 2 remake. Played a little of it, and it was interesting. Going to hold off until I finish the proper ones first.
  8. I think I’m gonna try and finish the games I have started now too. So Trails in the Sky, then DQXI, and then we’ll see
  9. Yeah, that's how I felt afterwards. The fact the ending you get from a second playthrough is a Golden Happy ending, I felt fine leaving it with the more harrowing bittersweet ending. The gameplay is okay, not great, but not bad either. Works better when you remember this was a PSP game. I will say the Code Crimson missions in the second playthrough are pretty interesting since they're basically black ops missions and it starts to make a little more sense why Machina and Rem have issues with Class 0 since the class have no real problem doing dirty work when Mama tells them to.

I have finally deleted KHUX from my phone. I ran out of room and the updates were killing me. Pretty much stalled right where I left off last time funny enough. I'm waiting for SaGa Universe to finally get released out here, I missed the Beta period despite signing up for it due to it being in March and that's pretty much when my state started to take COVID-19 seriously. For now, I'm playing through FFL3 and trying to finish Terra Battle's story mode before the shut down next month.
  10. Welp, just beat Type 0 for the first time. Overall I’m a bit mixed on the game, but I definitely loved the final chapter, as abrupt as it was. I think my core issue is that the gameplay never really clicked with me. I did enjoy the story, but wish that parts of it weren’t gated behind a second playthrough, since right now I don’t feel like going through that again. Still, it was definitely one of the most unique FFs out there and it had some incredibly powerful moments. The Alexander summoning is going to stick with me for a while. And I agree that it’s a far more interesting take on the FNC mythos than anything any of the XIIIs ever did.
