I think it depends on length of the critique and if it's well received and if it's on a spotlight piece. Brand new pieces are put in the spotlight and the first three critiques get extra karma. It's an incentive to get people to critique everything.

OH yeah! There is one group on there. It's a sci-fi one. I found it like a year ago. It's scientology supported. I didn't know it until I was looking again after joining it and they were all "WE'RE HAVING A CONTEST!" I was all, yeah a contest could be cool, i'll look into it. And the contest location was on a scientology site hahahaha
