I'ma IX girl myself.... obviously lol. I think it had a better story than VII. I mean VII was good, but it wasn't as in depth as everything made it out to be. Like you said, they game them personalities that weren't even there. Hell VI was better in my opinion. At least that made me giggle often. I never finished DQ8 though. My PS2 broke while in the middle of it. D:

What really irks me about everyone and their, "FFVII IS THE BEST MAN!" Is because of how they view Cloud and Sephiroth. If they didn't create this non-existant persona of their actual personalities I probably wouldn't have much of a problem with it. But seriously? I think Dragon Quest 8 is a much better game than FFVII. Now, I wouldn't go as far as to say it's better than I, VI, or X, because yeah. I've put countless hours into those ones.

A lot of the times "it's the best ever" is because it was the first of a pre-teens experience into the RPG world, making it the best in their eyes. ORRRRRRRRr so I think
