That's fantastic. I've kind of fallen off the wagon so to speak just because of a few things going on in life and getting stuck with some minor projects at work.
So the story is now really close to completion. I only need to do some editing now and it should be done.
Yeha the manga did some interesting things. I like how Shinji is a bit more apathetic and fatalistic in the manga but he uses that as a shield to cover his rage. Of anything, I'm happy the author took the time to flesh out some other characters like Kaji and how you finally get to see his backstory. I need to re-read the whole series, and for that, I probably need to collect it. Same with Akira now that I think about it.
Yup, I’m working on it. Should be done today. I’ve recently acquired the last three volumes of the manga so I currently have it all. I enjoy this different take. Honestly, if someone is looking for just the most cohesive version of the story and doesn’t really care about the psychological commentary, this is pretty much the best version to read. It does lose some of the show’s madness, sadly, but it’s still a very solid story with gorgeous artwork - you can clearly see why Sadamoto started taking so long because that level of detail is something else. I do feel that Kaworu was done foul though because he’s just not presentbin the retelling of End at all. He does show up sooner and gets more development with Shinji, but he’s not there for the closing act, and that’s a bit sad.
I've always saw Shinji's characterization in Rebuild as Anno trolling fans by showing what would happen if he was less dysfunctional about himself and his relationship to others. I've read parts of the manga, but never finished it. I do enjoy it though. Also, get back to work on finishing your story for me.
So I’ve heard this take that Shinji in the Rebuilds no longer really struggles with his inability to love himself, but rather his main internal conflict is his hero complex. Honestly, I agree with tha, it seems to make a ton of sense and I’m kinda mad that I didn’t notice earlier that it’s not just Asuka that got a big character makeover in these movies. On that note, have you read the Evangelion manga?

Okay, so I’m saying this now in order to be accountable because you’ve kinda sorta become my writing partner over time: if I don’t submit my novel-related short to you by tomorrow, I am a disgusting human being that can’t ever finish what he started. I need to get this project off the ground and I can’t keep procrastinating. It’s write or die now, basically.
