  1. I heard about that. From what I understand Pyramid Head was mostly added as fan service.
  2. The movies were odd cause they changed characters and combined plots from various games. Pyramid Head is an awesome antagonist but he really only makes sense in the game he debuted in (SH2) whereas the movies are based off the cult story arc which is SH1 and 3 though most of the games make references to the cult in some way even if they are not directly connected to the story.
  3. I probably will. I enjoyed the movie, and the movies are usually always inferior.
  4. You'll enjoy Silent Hill then.
  5. I think it got some flak for the fixed camera angles too, the first game anyway. Even though that was part of the horror in not being able to see what was coming at you.
  6. I just think the fact it jumped from the PS2 for awhile and went to Dreamcast and Gamecube perturbed a few people but if memory serves me coreect the series was getting a lot of flack for its tank controls.
  7. I think it technically only became an exclusive once. Even the original game when it first came out was multi-platform. It's just, a lot of people had PlayStations and didn't pay attention to the other consoles.
  8. SH is more about atmosphere than anything else. Not to mention that you tend to use Melee weapons more often and they are breakable...

RE just suffered the same fate as any Capcom franchise that did really well, it got whored out so much in the beginning that people started to lose interest. I mean I know tons of people love RE2 but RE3, Code Veronica, and RE0 didn't really expand the series as much as fans wanted it too. Not to mention that After RE3 the series kept jumping to different platforms which also killed interest cause I don't know too many RE fans who wanted to buy a Gamecube back then. Like Street Fighter and Mega Man, they just ran the franchise into the ground and had to reboot it which brought in new fans but alienated old ones, same with SF and MM. Its Capcom's main issue as a company.
  9. I noticed. I've been trying to pinpoint where it all started. Because in the case of RE, Capcom seemed pretty content with its success and didn't feel a need to try to reach out to a broader audience until more recently.

I love old school Resident Evil, so I shouldn't have much trouble with the design. My only concern was that it'd feel like RE in different skin (example: Dino Crisis), but from the little bit I play that doesn't seem like it's going to be the case.
  10. Changing games to make them have mass appeal has probably destroyed many a franchise, including Silent Hill which never really recovered from being sent to western developers after SH4.

SH in general is not for everyone and it is similar to RE in design. I love SH2 but if I am to be honest, it is a terrible game, its just that the story and atmosphere work best in a video game format as opposed to a film or novel. It wouldn't feel the same without them.
