  1. I called in today due to weather. Still shoveling snow though...
  2. Well maybe our nagging each other will help! Or get annoying... one of the two. SO GET TO WORK! assuming you're off work.
  3. Mine has more to with the Squirrel phenomena of being really into it and then I just kind of lose the gusto and when I finally come back to the story, I feel like it needs a rewrite. Trying to be better about that actually.
  4. I thought so! All these are all halfway done. I have a problem with dropping things midway because I'm unhappy with the direction or I get bored.
  5. They all sound interesting. We don't get enough badass moms if you ask me.
  6. Well, I have a novel that's kinda like yours in the fact that I've been working on it for ages. It's sitting comfortably at 45k right now haha. It's an Urban Fantasy adventure. G.N.O.M.E. (Grand National Organization for the Magical Economy) is doing shady things! They're the govt of the magical world. And a group of losers ends up having to help try to save it. I really enjoy this one but I think I've added a bit too many random strains into it, but it's a fun comedy-like story of losers.

Then I also have an Oklahoma-based crime novel. I think I'm going to go more visceral with it than what I originally planned but yeah.

Then there's a rewrite one I've worked on several times. I won nano with it once but ehhhh Then I tried to plan a rewrite and I changed the plot and ehhhh.

THEN THEN, last year's nano is a fun one I want to attempt again. It was about a mom. A badass mom! A strange darkness bubble falls on a city and anyone in it or near it gets twisted, corrupted and falls to their worst selves. A mom goes in to save her adult son. I wanted a crazy story that showed that moms are still badasses. I liked to refer to it as Taken: Darkness edition. haha
  7. Its more about rewrites. It read like fanfiction in its first draft, now its finally taking a unique form for itself. It helps that for several of those years, I wasn't actually writing anything. I also have other projects but those two are th first to come to mind because I've worked on both rather recently.

The Nano novel was also going to be split into two parts to see both characters perspective. I have it outlined pretty well and I already have the flow of the story figured out, I just had issues writing the characters in a way that didn't feel like some cheap high school romance novel.

What other projects do you have on the back burner?
  8. Oh I can understand the nano thing. That does seem like one that needs a delicate hand to it.

On the main novel, oh goodness! Sounds like you've dedicated a lot of time to it. Don't GRRM it though man, a decade for a book is a long time!
  9. My main novel is a bit complicated... it's kind of a FF/Xenogears mish mash something or other and it's hard to describe it without either oversimplifying it or writing a text book synopsis. I've been working on it for ten years so it better be complex. Basically it deals with a world that just ended a major world war and the antagonistic empire has split into its own civil war. The story follows several characters who show different sides of the conflict and eventually it gets a bit metaphysical and deals with the concept of what it means to be human and the meaning of life. The first several chapters almost sound like the plot of FFVI though...

My Nano is about two people meeting in the modern age who have reincarnated throughout human history and keep meeting each other in every lifetime. The story explores their relationship and deals with the concept of dealing with a relationship that has literally centuries worth of baggage behind it. I feel I need to grow to be a better writer before I can give the concept justice.
  10. either one! let's talk plots!
