Absolutely. I am just there to have a good time. I want to enjoy a good set, loose myself in it for a couple of hours, and then peacefully be on my way!
I'm pretty happy with the concerts I've seen, I don't mind traveling over to the eastern states of Australia where most bands will play if it's a band I really want to see, and I made sure I got to see Rush while I was in USA because they've never come down here for whatever reason. Yeah, gigs can be weird places, especially in the metal scene. I think a lot of it has to do with the whole "this band is post-tech-grind-groove metal and they advertised themselves as prog-sludge-satanic-doom metal, what a ripoff." I try not to think about the amount of sub-genres metalheads have created, it hurts the brain.
Yeah man, that sucks. I hope you can find your way to better shows somehow! My first world problem is that I feel out of place at shows. Especially smaller venues. There are all these kids there judging the crap out of everyone, and me and my friends just want to chill and have a good time. It's a weird scene.
I am quite jealous of those oversees festivals you guys get. The lineups on them some years are better than the sum total of three years of festival lineups in OZ. Even worse is that most of the bands I listen to these days aren't popular enough to justify flying all the way here for a solo tour. Oh well, first world problems
Yeah, they really knew how to rile a crowd up. I'd say they succeeded in Ozzfest's case because those festivals are plagued with older fans who don't like anything post 70s to 80s metal or just metal elitists in general. While Korn's music has elements of metal, I remember hearing people gripe about them being in Ozzfest. Then the show started. The crowd was nuts. But yeah, they were awesome live in their heyday. Again, this is coming from a very casual listener of Korn.
That's sweet. I never got a chance to see them in their heyday and even though I heard that their sets are pretty awesome these days like you said, I guess I've always been worried that it'd be a let down cause they were such a big deal to me back in the day. I'm sure the shows would be a blast though.
The first one was when they were on tour after Issues. The second one was at Ozzfest a few years later. I wasn't looking forward to their set, but their set list was heavy on their first three albums. The crowd was really into it. My friend who really doesn't care for Korn even admitted they had a good show. I never was that big into Korn myself, but I had lots of fun at both shows.
