Well, lets be honest. It does make people look unbelievably stupid when they ask why Brits go on about Europe as the continent like we're not part of it. I mean I work on Oxford Street, it's physically the busiest street in the world (proven supposedly) and we must have somewhere in the region of 100 - 300 american tourists a day come in and these tourists will always imply we're part of Europe "Oh I'm just over visiting the continent for a few days/weeks before I go back to the states" Is something I hear all too often, in fact I've started going "Well then, I think you got off the plane early because right now you're in the British Isles, if you want the continent you should've booked a flight to France or Germany." it normally elicts confused looks or stupid comments, I really think sometimes I ought to go study European/British history to go to America and teach the history of Europe/Britain to them.

don't bait the brits, we don't like it we just get fraustrated and annoyed and end up thinking the rest of the world is ignorant which then makes us sound like Micheal Jackson and well, thats just a bad thing in general. :grrr:
