  1. Well you know what it's like where I'm from, St Helens is hardly exciting.

Haha wow, wicked. Well I'm hoping to do Sociology and either Social Psychology or Criminology. If I get into the University, then I shall be seeing you!
  2. Yes, there's a train straight through to Liverpool as well that takes about two hours. Liverpool to Scarborough line, I think. Well, I live in North Wales normally so York certainly not old-fashioned compared to what I'm used to! I didn't do any of the touristy stuff until my friends came up for my birthday and it is quite busy with tourists, but not unbearably so. Your York uni card will actually get you free access to some of the tourist attractions if you want though.

Yes, I'm at the university studying History and Politics and I'm in Alcuin College (which is definitely the best!). It's a great university and I think I'm going to miss living on campus actually. Are you looking forward to it?
  3. When I went on the open day I was worried that York was a bit old fashioned and more touristy, so I'm glad that there are several clubs as thats all, really, I'm interested in! and a good transport to Manchester is useful for when I finally decide to go home, no train link to Liverpool though?
So do you go to the University?
  4. York itself is a beautiful city. The Minster obviously dominates the city, but the walls, Clifford's Tower and The Shambles are equally excellent. It always reminds me of Chester in terms of appearance, actually. It's got several clubs including some chain places like Reflex and Vodka Revolution, as well as some very nice old pubs that are definitely worth checking out for their eccentricities. It's got decent transport links and there's a regular train between York and Manchester which I use to get home to Wales during holidays. The city centre has got everything you need from a city and it's situated either a twenty-five minute walk or a five minute bus journey from the university campus itself. The bus is every 10 minutes and is only £2 return. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that I thoroughly loved my first year in York and can't wait to go back in October.
  5. I need you to tell me what York is like to live in! York is my first choice University.
