Conversation Between Skyblade and NeoCracker

  1. Eh, go for it. I don't really feel he's broken at all, but that's another story entirely. More commentary the better I say.
  2. I hope you don't mind my editorial commentary on Freedan in your Let's Play. I just really do feel the need to emphasis how powerful he is.
  3. The story is about a king who made a deal with the devil in exchange for power, and how that destroyed his kingdom and then himself. Blazer gets an awesome arc of rescuing the people, growing emotions, and eventually falling in love and choosing to remain a mortal. It's a great story.

But it's really the presentation of the story that I loved. The way the town built up as you rescued souls, how each time you cleansed a new portal you were always hyped to see what had changed back in town. What information or items the new villager might have. It was such a fantastic mechanic, and the main reason why I prefer Soul Blazer to Illusion of Gaia.

That and you're not playing as some of the most broken characters in gaming (Freedan, and later, Shadow).
  4. Visually is pretty great, and there is a lot of good atmosphere, but the story and gameplay just can't hold up for me.
  5. Only if you apologize for calling Soul Blazer boring. I can understand doing a Let's Play of Illusion of Gaia instead, since so much of the joy of Soul Blazer was watching how the world unfolded, what each rescued life would do to your town, and the constant joy of "will this next portal contain the current plot hook". Translating that to a Let's Play may be hard. But the game was not boring.
  6. If you respond in the Gaia thread to me, try to avoid some of the aspects that make this game similar to soul blazer, I don't want to spoil Shion on whats to come at all.
