actually I'm not on maniac xP just hard. ... cos I'm - not a maniac?
I only played on hard, since FES doesn't have the next up Difficulty setting. (Easy, Medium, and Hard is all). So I'm not really sure what stratagy would be best at the fourth difficulty added in the P3P version.
I'd have to boot up my save to check, thought my main one was Neokomata and maybe Illum or whatever she's called. I think one or the other has a lot of elemental attacks, not sure about weaknesses, they're both at about level 8, and yeah, they were created through fusion. The problem with grinding is I'm so underleveled that if I hazard Block 2 I tend to die, even when training up before the Fuuka battle - and on this difficulty setting it's pretty dire - a few low level enemies ganging up on me with a few critical hits or spamming Zio to exploit Yukari's weakness due to Garu, and I'm smurfing toast. Even on my male-protag save, I can STILL smurfing die and that's on smurfing normal...
Did you save right before Fuuka's area, or did you leave yourself a day or two prior on saves? If so, you can actually grind the night before and even when exhausted, your allies will still be willing to train. As far as persona's, if you have a persona that you made with multiple elements it can attack with, and few weakness's you are good. Also, If you have a Persona with a group physical who is also resistant to Physical you are good to open the fight with that. Not sure what person'as you have though, so I'm not sure if I can be much more help.
Hey have you done a playthru on the hardest difficulty setting? Any tips and tricks to managing to survive the tougher boss battles, like the one I'm stuck on with Fuuka? I think the problem was I was loving the Social Link stuff so much that I neglected Tartarus and didn't level my Personas enough (Mitsuru actually told me off at one point - "Maybe you're not the leader I thought you were." Go jump in a lake you officious cow. That being said my female char is still going after her. Hit the books sweetheart, you'll be a Genius in no time!)

Geez man I don't think I've even gotten to that point in the story yet - kind of having trouble just saving Fuuka because I'm on the hardest difficulty setting currently with my female character, and I'm not as big a fan of playing as male-protag.
