Your signature is interesting. I assume you took the translation on the FF Anthologies for it. Originally, the Void was left untranslated, as "mu", the Zen label for the concept of nothingness. Joshu's meditation on mu revealed that the nothing is far beyond any mortal comprehension, that while it is nothing, it is everything; while it is nowhere, it is everywhere. Mu is also used to justify what appears as logical circularities and inconsistencies in Eastern thought; what appears to be absurd is in fact not absurd and simply a product of something beyond understanding. I found mu to be too heavy a term to use for a simple void-ness in a video game, and I am glad that it was retranslated as Void.
