Yeah he truly is, but I did like the Xavier/Magneto dynamic in First Class. If anything it left the casual audience with the feeling of going for Magneto and not just Xavier because he's the default good guy, which is how it should be IMO. Out of both of them there is no clear cut good guy...just a difference in opinion. Well, you may needa forget that Magneto has done some mass murdering in his time though, lol.
Magneto is more of an anti-hero really. You sympathize with him because of his backstory and at times you root for him because we as humans really can be that terrible. And I love his relationship with the Professor, one of the things that I hate to say First Class didn't get down as well as could be, but it's a complicated relationship to begin with so I can't fault them too much on that.
Yeah, I definitely think he's the best X-Men villain. I don't really see Magneto as a bad guy, or otherwise he would be up there too. Apocalypse has a way of ending up being behind the biggest gloom and doom storylines. He's just fantastic. I never saw Evolution, but I did see the Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon. If season 2 had ever been made it was going to star Apocalypse and Sinister as the main baddies, which woulda been great.
And don't forget his awesome Egyptian background. Always had a weakness for Egypt. My first encounter with him was on X-Men: The Animated Series, which remains the best animated series of X-Men I've seen. He wasn't half bad in X-Men Evolution either and I love how he always appeared at the end of the games as THE bad guy like his cliff-hanger endings in X-Men Legends and X2: Wolverine's Revenge. I'm stoked for the movie in 2016 but I'm also terrified they'll find a way to screw it up.
Not intended...I don't think it is anyway, lol. Yeah, Apocalypse is pretty cool. Something about being the first mutant, and being the center of all evil in so many alternate timelines is appealing.
Some times I read your posts and feel like you've been inside my head. GET OUT OF MY HEAD! And Apocalypse is one of the best villains in the entire Marvel Universe.
