You RP? Let's RP?
YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SEE THE FUTURE! Who is the actor anyway?
Ho trout. I did not realize THAT kid was playing Jojen!
YOU READ RICK RIORDAN TOO?! My inner Greek myth geek sorta orgasmed over the whole thing.
Agreed. And for the record: I call my Christian friends out on this stuff too. In fact, I only have a handful of friends in my 600 person church, because I am regarded as being an outspoken person.
Was more of they agree that he existed, sorta... Oh, there are. There are the good and the bad in every bunch. The thing is people fail to realize that it is often not the religion itself to blame but merely a justification of the douchebagery. :/
And even what Jesus said is debated upon (meaning, etc.) Well, I appreciate your sentiments. I'm pretty laid back. I believe everyone has a right to believe what they want, and shouldn't be harassed for that. I don't laugh and call other religions stupid, or whatever. I don't think atheists are stupid either. And frankly, there ARE a lot of jerk Christians out there. And I'm sorry for that, and that they give us all a bad name. But respect is a two way street, and it's not really coming from either side. I just get annoyed with the attitude of superiority. "We are open-minded and respect people's life choices. Oh, wait? You're a Christian. You must be insane for believing that. And obviously you are an ignorant bigot." It happens so much, it's not even funny.
No, I am not. I've studied a lot of about religions though. Not so much on Christianity, but I know enough. That is the problem I have with the new atheist movement. While some of the core authors aren't as ugly about it as others, many of the people who agree with it can get pretty nasty. Also, there is the whole thing that many of them take fundamentalism as being like the only true expression of the religion. Funny thing about that is that people like Augustine, who basically is the most influential thinker on Western Christian thought, thought that fundamentalism was retarded. There is a problem in nomenclature when it comes to religion. It involves way to many broad generalizations that don't hold onto reality. Hell, the only thing Christians agree on is Jesus and from there it is all up in the air.
Are you a Christian? It doesn't really matter if you are--I appreciate that someone can sympathize with what I'm trying to say. It seems like the people who are getting offended at my posts are probably the worst offenders. I wasn't calling anyone out by name. I just stated that on this forum, I've encountered a lot of hostility towards Christians. And it's frustrating, because the idea they have of Christians isn't necessarily correct. In some cases, yes. But generalization only makes a further gap. I don't assume all atheists are heathens who rape, murder, do drugs, etc. It's just silly. But yeah, thanks.
