I'll take a look at it this weekend. Thanks so much, Joe Bryan. I can't tell you enough how much I appreciate this!
Well, if you're up to it I would suggest this. Look on the first diagram at numbers three and four. 3 is a plastic cover over the head of 4 which is the nut that holds your wiper arm on. You can probably take a small flat bladed screw driver and pop off number 3. From there you'll need a socket wrench (probably 13, 14, or 15 millimeters). You can remove the nut. If the nut already seems really loose, you may have found the culprit. (Righty tighty, lefty loosy). If you follow the straight line that is drawn all the way from 4 through the hole in the plastic shield, you'll see where it points at where the wiper arm attaches to the motor arm. With some prying and working, you should be able to pry off your wiper arm. You can inspect the splines to see if they look damaged. Save yourself some money, hopefully.
I didn't know windshield wipers crossed each other! The both move in the same direction at the same time.
Well, before you take it in, do you recall if you have wipers that move back and forth together, or cross over each other?>
I appreciate taking the time to look that up for me, though. I just get SO nervous about car stuff.
Lol. xD If it's not going to be horribly expensive, I'd probably just go get it fixed.
Well, here is a picture of your engine bay (I think, I can't verify the year). You can see the plastic shroud over the wiper arms and motor at the top near the base of the windshield. Here is a diagram of what is beneath the shroud and how to pull it. Here is a close up of just that wiper arm assembly. You'll notice those wipers fold back across each other instead of moving in tandem back and forth. So I'm not sure if it's exactly like yours. I may have the wrong year. You can see the two post like arms sticking up with splines on them. You would either be replacing those arms, or the wiper arms that attach to them. I think you could do it with the right tools.
And I'm no mechanic, but I'm pretty competent with tools.
It's a 2000 Buick Regal.
It is possible you or Denny or both of you could team up on it. It really boils down to what vehicle it is, and if you have the right tools/patience.
