Watching movies and stuff

So I just came back from the cinema after watching (happening to watch by losing to majority rule) The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It is okay. Maybe a bit annoying in some parts. The Donnie Darko-esque lead was probably the best actor, though the character had that thing of being written as unpopular and a bit miserable, but also being shown as attractive and not really noticeably weird (at first glance). I usually find that when there isn't enough depth to a character to make them likeable for their story alone then it's easier to give them a nice face to stare at. It also seemed that the more mature themes (and by far the more interesting ones) were given a backseat to accommodate the 12A certificate. It's annoying to have certain darker elements of the narrative written in as minor undertones when they could flesh out the plot so much more.
It was decent though. I'm an obsessive and my favourite bits were all of the references and mentions of The Smiths. It's not surprising that they featured heavily considering the fact that it's a movie about love that features a bunch of artsy kids with serious indie pretensions. Although they went on a bit about being 'alternative' but they didn't even recognise David Bowie's Heroes which was a bit muddling.
Decent stuff though.
Blogging feels less self-masturbatory when it isn't about yourself. It's an improvement.
Edit: I must learn the difference between creating a draft and actually posting the blog.
