In space the starts are no nearer

I realize that dreams are only significant to the dreamer, but I want to put this somewhere online so I can inevitably come across it years later and say, "Oh cool, I remember that dream."
The first part of the dream was murky, but I was driving a vehicle though a sorry looking half city/half suburb looking area. Something told me that there was a real chance that I could get attacked and killed by some sort of explosive or army faction.
Then the most vivid part of the dream happens. I shift locations to some sort of balcony gazebo thingy. It is night out and I can clearly see stars like you would in a low light area. I realize that I am actually seeing the Milky Way in person for the first time, and I am amazed. Just then I notice that there is no ground from where I can see space. My view of space grows more and more detailed as I see various star clusters, comets zipping along everywhere, and generally very cool things. There is a lot of moving activity that would be downright impossible in real life. I also can easily tell which starts are closer and which are further away despite the perspective still looking like how you would see things while looking at a night sky with no light pollution.
I decide to look back through the opposite end of the balcony gazebo thingy. I see the half suburb/half city looking area from afar. There is way too much light pollution and many missiles are firing at civilian airliners. I think that it is such a shame that there is trivial fighting going on in this world when there is such an amazing sight nearby.
I turn to look at the night sky, but there are massive clouds blocking most of the view. I then wake up very angry that what I saw wasn't real, nor will I ever travel space like they do in Star Trek in real life.
