Final Fantasy VII: An Adventure.

Rate this Entry
I just finished the game today so this blog should be my last few posts. I'll split it up into two or three posts in this blog. I will be starting VI today also, and I haven't played much, and unlike VII where I read the script so I knew what would happen, I haven't done that with VI so it will be an exciting almost all new adventure.

I went to the library in Nibelheim and saw some flashbacks of Cloud and Zack, who looks like he has a black sonic the hedgehog on his head, or my boyfriend says he looks like he's gone super sayan 5. We see that Cloud and Zack were in these tube things and they escaped and were in the back of a truck. Zack is all bouncy and doing squats and Cloud's just like nghauuuu. Zack annoys the old man driving the truck and says he's going to become a mercenary. And as Cloud is his friend, so will he! Well unfortunately Zack gets shot repeatedly in the head by some Shinra soldiers. Cloud takes his sword and you know the rest.

So we head over to Cidsville where supposedly the huge materia is being put on the rocket. Cid is excited that he finally gets to go in space. He finds out the rocket is set to go to meteor to try and destroy it. Palmer locks on the auto-pilot. Cid makes a big speech of science vs. magic, which I can't at all identify with. Whatever Cid, you smoke. So we head to the huge materia and I am given a time limit to unlock the huge materia. I fail because I don't work well under pressure. (Unless a potential employer is reading this, in which case I work extremely well under pressure. PM me). We head to the escape pods but, gasp, an explosion! Cid is then being crushed by a huge chunk of metal. Oxygen tank #8 isn't working?! Shera was right! She helps Cloud and Vincent to lift the metal off of Cid and we escape, and the rocket crashes into Meteor. Cid has finally been in space.

We head to Cosmo Canyon (with it's awesome music) and go see gergen...hergal.. and he asks us to bring us to seashell village. Well I do so and we find a music box and we find out that Aeris was praying for Holy, so we can stop meteor. I can go on about this, but Aeris is dead and its time we moved on.

The next thing I remember happening was Shinra moving the Junon canon to Midgar. It must be a pain in the butt to live there, with all this crap going on. Well Shinra succeeds in getting the barrier away from the North Crater thingy. I don't know why we're still all pissy at Shinra, they come in handy. But then, what is this? Weapon slow mo walking over to Midgar? We must save them! I guess it isn't super slo mo if you consider he's walking around the world, but still. We parked the airship and kinda...stood around for a while. We defeated Weapon and then Shinra shot the beam and it went right through poor weapon. I may have mixed up some of the timeline >_>. Oh also, before weapon got beam shot, he fired some breth missiles at Midgar and Rufus was in the tower that got shot.

Ree... I mean Cait Sith tells us how they plan to use the cannon again and apparently Midgar is STILL in danger. My goodness, those people need to move. Apparently this time, Hojo is behind it. We parachute into Midgar (does Vincent really need a parachute?) and go up to meet a psycho Hojo Jojo. We run in to the Turks once again and this time ELena joins the fight. She's kind of cute. Barret poisons them all and then Cloud uses Omnislash and then they decide maybe it's time they took off. We get to Hojo and e is planning to provide Sephiroth with the power he needs. We're all like, stop Hojo, don't do it! We also find out he injected himself with some Jenova cells, and after a few transformations, he finally does, and we shut the cannon off.

Now it is time for Cloud's speech! He talks about having to have something to fight for, and he wants everyone to have that one thing. So they are all told to leave, and it will be okay if they don't come back. Tifa and Cloud spend the night together (ifunowhatimean) and sure enough, everyone returns!!! Cait Sith apparently developed a southern accent at some point? And in the movie he has an irish accent? I don't even... Anyways, Yuffie also tries to convince me to give up my materia when all is said and done, and she even writes up a contact .

Disc 3 time! Almost to the end of the game! That concludes this second to last adventure in Final Fantasy VII land!

The Huge Materia subplot was really poorly developed by the writers. "Oh, Shinra is planning to use these special materia to try to stop Meteor? Let's sabotage that plan by stealing the materia because we think they're cool!" Obviously the Shinra plan wasn't going to work anyway, but the characters didn't necessarily know that, and it's not like they were doing anything particularly useful at the time.

I would always fail the huge materia QTE too - had to check a walkthru in the end. I think you HAVE to get it if you want to then unlock that particular class of huge materia if you master all of the standard ones and visit Bugenhagen for the upgrade - but that would take grinding I could never achieve without help, and God knows my sister hates JRPGs.

"I can go on about this, but Aeris is dead and its time we moved on." Do go on! Do it! The day I get over Aeris is the day a part of me is dead inside. The little Aeris in my heart, as it were.
