I'm not sure if it's because im quite irritable today or what but this email I just got simply annoys the crap out of me.
This was an email from my freshman seminar speech prof about the topic of our final speech.
For some reason the instructions piss me off, let's see if you can figure out why.

"With your team, you will write a speech that is reflective of how you were inspired by the movie viewed in class and present it in a final competition"

Of the requirements this is included

"A visual aid representing what inspired you most from the movie."
and
"Examples and stories about how you personally connect to the themes in the movie."

See why I'm a bit peeved? If not, it's because the requirements of the speech basically dictate that we were "inspired" and moved by the movie we viewed. We were told that we were just watching the movie because a group voted on it and it was just to kill a class prior to the final speech. As such, I really didnt watch much of it. Whenever I tried to get engaged with the movie I just kind of got bored and went back to not caring. What I watched was a fairly run-of-the-mill "based on a true story" movie based on racism and college and stuff. It was extremely predictable, and at least from what I saw it didn't seem to be necessarily spectacular.

Maybe I didnt give the movie the time or attention it deserved. Maybe this was the most inspirational (and predictable) movie on the smurfing planet, but what pisses me off is that the profs just assume we found it freaking amazing and inspiring.

Not only that, but it's also a pretty lazy prompt for a final speech. I was expecting everyone to have a very diverse topic with many different approaches... but nope. Everyone has the same topics, and chances are many groups will tackle the exact same things.

I find it sad that my favorite class at the start of the semester has steadily become my least favorite. :\

Oh well, whatever. Just needed to get my frustrations out.
