It blows my mind that they'd use the name football. Bad enough the name doesn't seem to fit the sport, but why would anyone create a sport, then choose to give it the same name as the most boring sport on Earth?

I get what you are saying, but I always assumed the name stems from the fact that there is a kick off every time the game is started or "restarted." There is also a punt when a team gives up a possession. And then there is the extra point try after a touchdown and field goal, which have lead to MANY key victories in important games over the years.

Yeah, mostly hands are used, but the name isn't COMPLETELY off base.

Since Timekeeper is in Cambodia or some trout I'll do what he normally does. Football as a name stems from the fact that most distinguished sports were played on horseback by those fancy enough to own horses and whatever. So football was basically a generic term for like, non-mounted polo.

Like clearly the NFL could've come up with something else but w/e I don't even believe in this stupid rationale I just thought Timekeeper's sagelike wisdom was lacking while he was off being a sage.
