10/10 Scores

Rate this Entry
When I started doing reviews scoring things 10/10 was something I struggled with because I cannot for the life of me put my feelings to a number. Every time the doctor asks me how much does it hurt at a scale from 1 - 10 I have no idea what to say. I just can't translate a feeling to a number, there's no way I can do it.

So I came up with a system I like to think is at least fair to the games I review. My 10/10 scoring is rated by cons. This means I default the game at 10 and subtract by one for each flaw or a setback I can find with the game and I do my best not to nitpick it all to hell. This come on a case by case basis. A game has to be the buggiest piece of crap in existence to get a ridiculously low score from me. I think the lowest I ever gave a game was 4/10 and that was mainly because everything from gameplay to story elements were just a complete ripoff of Resident Evil. Usually the flaws that cause the subtractions is listed in the cons section, if I don't see any obvious flaws about the game then it scores a perfect ten by default.

The rest is just me talking about the game and giving my honest opinion of it and I don't act like my opinion is the be all end all. This is why all my conclusions tend to sendoff with, "If you like so and so then you may enjoy the game." And if I can think of something funny to say while spouting off my nonsense I'll do that too. Generally, I just love games and love to promote games, especially if they're something not greatly talked about or well known by as many people.

First I need to get a HD plugin for my TV. I have a HD TV and all this time I haven't actually been using the HD part of it. Funny how that works.

Oh second thought, screw the HD.

Sounds reasonable. As I have never been in the position to review games in any official form or way, I can't say I would have any better luck trying to put a number on quality. I mean, quality can be pretty subjective.

I like how some places do a Buy it, Rent it, Miss it system; or something similar to that. Your system sounds pretty reasonable, though. I just personally don't enjoy putting a number value to games like that.
