Blogging and Tim Minchin

Rate this Entry
Contrary to some oldbies, I am actually mildly interested in this blog feature. I will semi-regularly have thoughts on an issue that I want to type up and open to discussion, but for one reason or another would not be suitable for an EoFF thread. I have off-and-on considered making my own blog for the variety of issues which interest me (religion/atheism/law/criminal justice/science/etc.), but I have been too lazy. But now I have a spot here I can post whatever the hell I want, so I might take advantage of this.

For now, I will leave you with Tim Minchin, one of the most entertaining and hilarious musicians out there. I was reminded of him recently after the Pope claimed that Nazism was caused by "atheist extremism -- presumably as a way to distract from the child abuse atrocities that Catholic Church has committed. This brought to mind Tim Minchin's "Pope Song" (NSFW language), which is brilliant.

Other good Tim Minchin songs:
Taboo
Inflatable You
If You Open Your Mind Too Much Your Brain Will Fall Out
... and pretty much everything else he's ever done. Listen to it all.

Speaking of religious comedy, SMBC is a hilarious comic. Here's another good one.

I love that Tim put up The Pope Song as a free download when the Pope was there.

I think Storm was easily MInchins best track, followed closely by Rock and Roll Nerd.

I love storm so much because not only does he proceed to tear apart notions about supernatural and such, he also establishes these things aren't needed to see the beauty around us, all while making me laugh my ass off.

SMBC is a nice comic. It's at least more enjoyable and less esoteric and more funny than xkcd (this is where you rip my throat out for daring to talk smack about xkcd)
